Hi.

Welcome! I am a California girl who has lived in Scotland and Mozambique - follow my adventures here!

Montreal and Quebec City in Photos

In one week, my parents and sister will be moving to Montreal from Oakland, CA (my brother and I will be in our first and final years, respectively, of college). It's a big move, and, to prepare, we took a trip to visit Montreal to scope out the area, potential schools, neighborhoods, flats, etc. I won't write up details of the whole trip, since a lot of it was looking at all those things such as flats and schools and that doesn't make much of a blog story, but I'll post some of the best photos here so you can see the highlights of the trip.

We started in Montreal, where we used bixi bikes (public rentable day bikes all around the city) to get around and explore. We went to the Highland Games, attended a few good dinner parties, and generally explored the city. We also took a three day trip to Quebec City, just a few hours out of Montreal, and saw a giant waterfall and a beautiful island, Isle D'Orleans.

One day before my travel: small disaster. My parents and sister were already in Montreal, so I called our good friend Steve for help (I left later than the rest of the family because I had work).

But we followed it up with relaxing, so it was ok.

We had a lot of coffee.

Montreal and Quebec City both reminded us a lot of Europe.

We stopped on the way to Quebec City for this view.

My brother was in Europe, so he didn't come on the trip, but here is a mostly whole family photo.

Our view for much of the second half of the drive to Quebec City.

We hiked up to the bridge over this waterfall, which is taller than Niagara Falls. It was beautiful and very loud!

We had a feast at the cidrerie on L'Isle D'Orleans.

And lots of cider

And a view
