Hi.

Welcome! I am a California girl who has lived in Scotland and Mozambique - follow my adventures here!

Montreal through the Kitchen Lens

Last month, a few days after my birthday, I flew back to Montreal to spend three weeks with the family (minus James, who was unfortunately working in California). As always, it was a refreshing and relaxing time spent with family, and one thing the family likes to do is cook. We did a lot of cooking together on this trip, so here, to celebrate and acknowledge this, is a photo series of meals:

We have always been big on the hors d’oeuvres.

Of course, we had to explore other food options beyond our own kitchen. Here we are on our way out to dinner.

An asparagus and radish salad.

Back when we lived in Oakland, a favorite meal was one our family friend made - home made Italian BLTs. These are BLTs made with homemade focaccia, big sliced tomatoes, mozzarella, and prosciutto or pancetta, drizzled with balsamic. Here is the focaccia my mom and I made.

And here are the fillings, along with some sweet potato fries.

My little sandwich closeup.

One of our favorites: the caprese salad.

A little family joke now that most of us are vegan or vegetarian (James and me being the exceptions).

And, just for fun, this is a recreation of an old photo of me and Isabelle showing off our freshly painted toes, which I have added here just for fun.

Here is the original, probably as much as 13 years ago!
