Have you ever seen an image perfectly reflected in water? Whether it be a lake, a pond, or a lowly puddle, a body of water is a perfect window in which to see specific sections of our world reflected back at us.
One morning, I was walking through the maze of buildings that makes up Pollock Halls, the dorm buildings at University of Edinburgh, after a night of heavy rain. The grass was muddy, and puddles had formed in the space between the grass and the path. The overhanging trees lining the road were reflected perfectly in the small puddles, re-creating the world in black and white, a shadowy duplicate of what we see outside.
