Little Farmer's Market
There is a little machamba, or farm field, near our house where we go a few times a week to get our fresh vegetables. This takes the saying ‘farm to table’ to another level, as the plants are put straight from the ground into our cooler box, and then into our salad bowl. We don’t use plastic bags, they don’t sell plastic bags, and there is no chemical fertilizer involved. Rather, there are large concrete pools filled with cool water interspersed around the garden, and these are full of fish. The fish eat some of the plants, and the plants are fed with the nutrient rich water from the fish pools. It’s a wonderful place, so I thought I should share some pictures here.
And of course, we still have the herbs, fruit trees, and vines growing on our plot of land. They are growing fast in the summer sun and rains.
